Built for chain retention and a wide 1x range

Shimano says the chain stabilizer reduces chain drop, slap and noise, and that the low-profile body is for rougher ground, with stable drivetrain performance on trails, gravel and city streets. The same page lists 39T capacity, a 48T maximum for 1x10 and a 50T maximum for 1x11, and says it is tested for e-bike use.

The table’s minimum low sprocket of 48T means this is not the derailleur for an 11-28 or 11-34 cassette.

Which bikes it suits

• 1x10 or 1x11 LINKGLIDE with a 48T low sprocket. 11-speed can go to 50T, and this batch does not include a 50T cassette
• A conventional MTB hanger or UDH
• A LINKGLIDE or HG 11-speed chain

A double chainring is outside the 0T front difference. Road hangers and MTB direct mount are not marked. Polished silver is another official color and is not sold on this page. The hydraulic right lever is the ST-U6030 rear set.

FAQ

Is this the short cage or the long cage?

It is the medium cage, GS. It is not a short cage for a small cassette. The minimum low sprocket in the table is 48T.

Can it run a double chainring?

No. Maximum front difference is 0T and total capacity is 39T. Shimano’s own low-sprocket line is written as 1x10 and 1x11.

Which hanger does it need?

Shimano marks conventional MTB direct attachment and UDH. MTB direct mount and road hangers are not marked. Send a photo of the hanger.

Can an e-bike use it?

Yes. The specification note and the product page both mark it e-bike rated. The chain still has to be LINKGLIDE or HG 11-speed.
