10-speed cassette, 11-speed chain

This is the easy mistake. The cassette is 10-speed, and the official chain row says LINKGLIDE or HG 11-speed. A leftover 10-speed HG chain is not the chain Shimano lists. Check the speed marking on the chain before ordering.

Shimano describes LINKGLIDE as a durable drivetrain for multi-purpose bikes and high-torque e-bikes. “Up to three times the durability of HYPERGLIDE” is Shimano’s statement for high chain tension, not a Jollymap test.

Who it suits

• A 1x10 LINKGLIDE bike that needs an 11-48T range for hills, cargo or an e-bike
• An HG spline M freehub, not Microspline and not a narrow road 11-speed freehub
• A rear derailleur that can take a 48T low sprocket. The match in this batch is RD-U6000-GS

Shimano also lists 11-39T and 11-43T. Those ratios are not this page, and this page is the silver finish only. If the freehub is uncertain, contact us rather than assuming every “10-speed” hub will take it.

No. The official chain is LINKGLIDE or HG 11-speed.

Will it fit a road 11-speed freehub?

Shimano does not mark it. The marked body is HG spline M. Road 12/11-speed HG spline L and Microspline are unmarked. Send a photo of the freehub if you are unsure.

Can it run with a derailleur limited to 11-36T or 11-42T?

This cassette’s low sprocket is 48T. RD-U6000-GS lists a minimum low sprocket of 48T, so that derailleur matches. A derailleur whose maximum low sprocket is under 48T should not be assumed to fit.

Are 11-39T and 11-43T on this page?

No. Shimano lists three ratios. This page is silver 11-48T only.
